Buy One, Get One Holiday Drinks at Starbucks this Week

Starbucks holding its Buy One, Share One holiday drink event again this week.

The holidays are right around the corner, slow down and share some time with a special person in your life. Beginning today, local Starbucks stores will be holding another Buy One, Share One event. The event ends Sunday, Dec. 16. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., when you purchase one of Starbucks' holiday beverages – a caramel brûlée latte, peppermint mocha, or gingerbread latte – you'll get a second one free. Take advantage of the Buy One, Share One event at these local Starbuck stores:

Business Association to Light Tree in Honor of Fallen Police Officers

The Feasterville Business Association 11th annual Project Blue Light tree lighting will take place Dec. 6, 2012.

Members of the Feasterville Business Association and community leaders will gather around a tree just outside of the Lower Southampton Library Dec. 6 to sing holiday songs, but more importantly, they will pay tribute to the memory of all police officers that gave the ultimate sacrifice. The tree will be adorned with blue lights, which will be lit to honor fallen officers throughout the holiday season. This will be the Feasterville Business Association's 11th annual Project Blue Light Holiday Tree Lighting, which will be attended by FBA event Chairpersons Mike Hughes and John Brinkmann; FBA President Ray Greenberg; Lower Southampton Police Chief William Wiegman; Bucks County Sheriff Edward “Duke” Donnelly; PA State Representative Frank …

Oliver Heckman Elementary Helps Families Enjoy Thanksgiving

The elementary school's faculty and community worked together to help families within the school to enjoy Thanksgiving.

Through the generous donations of the Heckman faculty and community, 14 needy families from within Oliver Heckman Elementary were provided with complete Thanksgiving dinners, plus additional pantry items. According to a Neshaminy School District press release, the school nurse Colleen McIlhenny coordinated the efforts of the school and community. If you are interested in helping to provide food and pantry items for families during the holiday season and throughout the year, please contact McIlhenny at Oliver Heckman Elementary by calling 215-809-6330.

NHS Family & Consumer Science Students Prepare Annual Thanksgiving Feast

Neshaminy High School's Family & Consumer Science students prepared their annual Thanksgiving feast without wasting any food.

Neshaminy High School's Family and Consumer Science students prepared their annual Thanksgiving feast in Today's Foods classes without wasting any food. According to a school district press release, the students in the Today's Foods classes spent most of November preparing for their annual Thanksgiving feast. They planned menus, collected recipes, wrote shopping lists and prepared the dishes for the meal. The students also studied the history leading up to the historic meal. In the class, time was also spent teaching the technique of formal table setting for a holiday meal and praticing the art of table manners. The students roasted five turkeys, mashed 50 pounds of potatoes, broke up 10 loaves of bread for stuffing, baked five sweet …

Getting Ready for Christmas

Lucy remembers Christmas traditions with her family as she also says goodbye to Patch.

I hand it to all of you who venture out into the world on Black Friday. The day after Thanksgiving, I can barely rouse myself out of bed due to the turkey, stuffing and pie-induced coma I’m in. So to anyone who managed to get up early (or who camped out before the stores opened) to battle the throngs of bargain seekers, I salute you. For me, one of the best things about the holiday is that it marks the beginning of the Christmas season. Obviously, Black Friday shoppers feel the same way. The tree goes up that weekend, and I’ll watch every sappy Christmas movie ever made – twice – while I decorate and bake. The kids usually take bets on how long it’ll be before I start to cry, and then spy on me until a winner is proclaimed. But the most …

Pearl Buck Students Deck the Walls at Pearl S. Buck House 34th Annual Festival of Trees

Students from Neshaminy School District's Pearl Buck Elementary helped decorate the Pearl S. Buck house for the holidays.

Pearl Buck students in grades K-5 were invited to participate in the 34th annual Festival of Trees at the Pearl S. Buck House in Perkasie. Students in Mrs. McGuigan’s art classes created ornaments for the festival tree, including ceramic doves, pipe cleaner candy canes, paper stained-glass ornaments, and button decorated stars, hearts, and oval ornaments. In addition, every student in the school signed a tree skirt createdby Pearl Buck parent Leslie Maxwell. The Pearl Buck Elementary School Tree is located on the second floor landing outside of Miss Buck’s bedroom. Local artists, decorators, and Pearl S. Buck fans have been commissioned to design the holiday room décor in hopes of capturing the visitors’ votes for the “Best Display” during…

  Neshaminy School District Schools will be closed both Thursday and Friday this week for Thanksgiving. Students will not be in school Wednesday either for an Act 80 day. Lower Southampton Township Building will be closed Thursday and Friday. Police, Lower Southampton and Feasterville fire companies and other services essential for public safety and health will remain open. District Court will be closed Thursday and Friday. PennDOT, Police Join for ‘Operation Safe Holiday’ Enforcement

Effort Focuses on Seat Belt Use, Impaired and Aggressive Driving

PennDOT and police statewide are joining forces for “Operation Safe Holiday,” an initiative including seat-belt, aggressive-driving and impaired-driving enforcement aimed at keeping roadways safe this holiday season. The operation is under way, beginning with statewide Click It or Ticket seat-belt enforcement. Through the New Year, police will also use sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and regular traffic safety patrols to crack down on motorists who are speeding, driving aggressively or driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol. “Every year we see an increase in travel during the holiday season, and unfortunately we also see more crashes,” PennDOT Secretary Barry J.
