Superintendent: Neshaminy Schools Prepared for Emergencies

Neshaminy School District Superintendent Robert Copeland reassures the community that district schools are prepared for emergency situations.

Just like communities across the country, the Neshaminy community is morning the loss of life in the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. "No words can adequately express the senseless taking of innocent lives. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the parents, family members, school staff and community members. Our nation is rocked by this event, and our own community is reeling from what happened and the ever present possibility of what could happen here or somewhere else," Neshaminy Superintendent Robert Copeland said. Lower Southampton Prepares for Hurricane Sandy

As Hurricane Sandy moves closer to the area, Lower Southampton Township officials are working to prepare the township for the worst.

A little more than a year after Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee ravaged Hatboro with flooding and property damage, emergency management personnel are keeping a watchful eye just in case Hurricane Sandy wreaks havoc. Lower Southampton's Fire Marshal Bill Oettinger said that the township's public works department will be out continuously this weekend preparing the township for possible flooding. Right now, public works is out clearing out storm sewers throughout the township to ensure that there aren't any blockages before the storm, Oettinger said. Oettinger has been working with his staff and other township officials today to complete an emergency action plan in case Hurricane Sandy does hit the township. This plan, he said, is a …
