Catalytic converters and batteries were stolen from Central Bucks Transportation vehicles in Trevose.
For the second time in two months, vehicle parts have been stolen from Central Bucks Transportation. The Lower Southampton Police Department reported that 12 vehicle batteries and six catalytic converters were stolen from the company's retired vehicles that used to transport students. Sometime between Wednesday, Nov. 21 and Monday, Nov. 26, unknown actors crossed a 4-foot gate, climbed over an 8-foot high fence and entered the secure yard of the Trevose company. While in the taxi company's yard, the actors cut the batteries and catalytic converters out of the vehicles. The Lower Southampton Police Department is investigating the theft of catalytic converters from vans on the property of a Lower Southampton taxi company.
The following information was supplied by the Lower Southampton Police Department. A mechanic for Central Bucks Transportation told police that sometime between Sept. 1, 2012 and Oct. 1, 2012, an unknown actor removed a total of 10 catalytic converters from five Ford Aerostar vans. He stated that a converter is valued at about $25 and each van has two. The actors used a saw-type tool to cut the converters from underneath of the vans. These vans were taken out of service and prepped to be sold at auction/salvage prior to the theft. The area where the vans were stored in the rear area of the business, which is located on the 100 block of Sterner Mill Road in Trevose, that is fenced in and and not visible to traffic.
