Celebrate Fourth of July Locally

The Fourth of July is right around the corner, but you don't just have to celebrate our country's independence on the fourth. In fact, you don't even have to leave the area to celebrate with these local patriotic events:

Monday

• are back from Monday at 6 p.m. through Saturday. This year’s celebration, themed “Our Legacy, Past and Present,” will feature all of the usual staples and a few new attractions including , children’s activities, concerts, carnival rides and more.

Wednesday

• will ring in Independence Day with a parade starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending late in the evening, after the legendary fireworks bonanza. (The fairgrounds will be closed between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in preparation for the fireworks.) A general admission of $3 will be charged for everyone over the age of 3 this night.

• Middletown Township will hold its starting at 9 a.m. The parade starts at Veterans Memorial Park on Veterans Highway and continues along Trenton Road, ending at Twin Oaks Park.

• The historic Moland House in Warwick will celebrate . The house served as George Washington's military headquarters in the summer of 1777.

• Lower Southampton Township is hosting a parade, that will start at 1 p.m. at Second Street and Bustleton Pike and will move north on Route 213 Bridgetown Pike to  and the . The parade will feature a Mummers string band, jug, pipe and pep bands, the Jody King Show, Mad Dog, the Philadelphia Eagles Pep Band to the Boogie Dogs, Dixieland music, a motorcycle drill team, local and visiting fire departments and colorful floats.

• Fonthill Museum in Doylestown will host an . The will include a decorated bike parade, town ball game (19th-century baseball), watermelon eating contests, free old-time games and live music.

• Iron Abbey in Horsham will be hosting a starting at 3 p.m. The event will take place at the Horsham gastro pub's outdoor patio.

Saturday

• will begin at 3 p.m. with a parade. The parade will start at the Newtown Business Commons. The route will follow Newtown Yardley Road, making a left turn on South Elm and a right turn on Center Avenue. It will then make its way to Sycamore Street and go right, ending at Starting at 6 p.m., a block party will be held at Council Rock North High School and continue until a fireworks show caps off the events after sunset.
