Dealing with change comes down to being prepared for it and having the right attitude. When Ms. Linda and I decided to open a karate school we did it for two principle reasons.

First I did not feel like I was making a difference in my existing career, a feeling I'd had for about five years. Second while helping out with my children's karate classes I found that I seemed to be good at teaching and loved doing it. Because we were motivated it was easier for us to change. What if you are not motivated to change, but change occurs anyway? You will need to understand the following;
CHANGE WILL HAPPEN WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. Change is unavoidable. The only thing certain about tomorrow is that it will be different then today. Think about it, your grandparents went to a movie for entertainment, your parents watch entertainment on a television and you watch entertainment on a cell phone. The world has and will continue to change.
WITHOUT CHANGE THERE CAN BE NO IMPROVEMENT. I think leadership expert Max DePree summed it up best when he said, "We cannot become what we need by remaining what we are". If you want to improve your position in life, health, financially or in a relationship you need to embrace change.
MAKE A COMMITMENT TO PAY THE PRICE FOR CHANGE. When Ms. Linda and I opened the school we understood that for five years our lives would be crazy. Starting a new business while still working an existing job, commuting back and forth to Bensalem twice a day made for a chaotic schedule. We knew for five years that it would be insane because with change comes a price you must pay. If there is no price then there is no change and there is no growth.
CHANGE MUST HAPPEN WITHIN YOU BEFORE IT CAN HAPPEN AROUND YOU. Unfortunately when people are unhappy with something they usually try to change everyone and thing around them, however real lasting change comes when we change ourselves. By changing ourselves we can change our world.
