Neshaminy School District's Samuel Everitt Elementary School was selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a Distinguished Title One School for 2012-2013.
Each year, the Division of Federal Programs honors Title 1 schools making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for two or more consecutive years. This year, schools will be selected as “distinguished” if they meet this criteria along with one or more of the following:
The school is among the list of top 25 performers in reading or math, based on the percentage of students scoring advanced or proficient in the "All Students" category of the 2011-12 PSSA or
Students tested in one or more of the measured subgroups in the 2011-12 PSSA have a percentage gain of 25 percent or greater from 2010 to 2011.
Based on these criteria Samuel Everitt has been selected to be a “Title 1 Distinguished School” in the 2012-13 school year. Everitt is also eligible to be chosen as one of two national Title 1 Distinguished Schools.
PDE’s Division of Federal Programs will honor Everitt at the Title 1 Improving Schools’ Performance Conference in Pittsburgh as a 2013 Distinguished Title 1 School. At this year’s conference the school's reading specialist Colleen Stahl and Title 1 teacher Ms. Maurizi will present Everitt’s best practices to other educators.
