NHS Senior Wins 2012 Miss Irish Scholarship Essay and Contest

A Neshaminy High School senior won the 2012 Miss Irish Scholarship Essay and Contest

On March 3, the Bucks County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee announced at the annual Irish ball, held at King’s Caterers in Levittown, that Neshaminy High School senior Colleen Gallagher was selected as the first place recipient of the “2012 Miss Irish Scholarship Essay and Contest.”

According to the school district website, the 2012 Miss Irish Scholarship Essay and Contest is awarded to a contestant for "an outstanding composition of an essay 'that represents you, and how familiar you are with the Irish culture; why you believe you should be chosen as Miss Irish; your goals and plans for the future’; and what makes you unique.'" Candidates were required to interview for the finalist spots following essay selection.

Colleen Gallagher was one of three finalists from Bucks County selected to attend the Irish Ball.

At the ball, Colleen Gallagher was crowned Miss Irish and won the $500 grand prize, participation in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and attendance at the Hoolie following the parade.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday March 10, 10:30 a.m. beginning at New Falls Road and ending at Conwell-Egan High School.  Lt. Governor Jim Cawley will serve as grand marshal of the 2012 Bucks County's St. Patrick's Day Parade. The Hoolie follows the parade at Fraternal Order of the Eagles on 920 Trenton Rd., Fairless Hills, PA. This event is free and open to the public.
