NHS Makes AYP for First Time

Preliminary Analysis of Neshaminy School District's PSSA data indicates that Neshaminy High School made adequate yearly progress (AYP) for the first time ever. If NHS can achieve AYP again in 2013, the school will no longer be under corrective action status.

"The board extends its heartfelt appreciation to NHS principal Rob McGee, his entire staff, and of course our students, for this significant achievement," Neshaminy School Board President Ritchie Webb said.

During a presentation in an October 2011 school board meeting, it was revealed that

Last school year, the school board adopted a measure that would require 11th graders achieve PSSA proficiency as part of their graduation requirements.

"While not everyone in our district believed this mandate was a good idea, it certainly appears to have had an immediate, positive effect. I hope this new policy will continue to reinforce the importance of what the staff is teaching our children in the classroom," Webb stated.

More analysis will be done regarding the district's PSSA data. The school board will provide a more thorough report of all our schools' performance early in the upcoming school year, Webb said.
