After reviewing its summer school program, the curriculum and instruction department reduced its budget by $8,502.

Muenker also said that the district's purchasing department reduced its budget by $64,7000.

In addition, Muenker said that the district's pupil services department's budget was able to be reduced by $823,143 -- this saving was realized, in part, by the district over budgeting for transportation obligations to the Bucks County Intermediate Unit.

All of these recommendations, in addition to Muenker's previous recommendations, would bring the 2012-13 budget deficit to approximately $7.4 million.

Muenker stated that he will continue to make budget cut suggestions at the May 22 school board meeting.

He also encouraged parents and tax payers to submit their suggestions on ways to balance the budget. If you have cost-saving ideas, you can e-mail them to savingsideas@neshaminy.k12.pa.us.

The school board has to approve a balanced budget for the 2012-13 school year by June 30, 2012. Muenker said that June 30 falls on a Saturday and that he will push to have everything in place for the school board to approve the budget at the last school board meeting on June 19.
