Neshaminy School Board Rejects NFT's Latest Contract Proposal

During Monday's negotiation session, the school board's negotiation team rejected the NFT's recent contract proposal.

Monday evening, the Neshaminy School Board's negotiation team and representatives from the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers [NFT]

However, during the 30 minute meeting the board formally rejected that was , stating the proposal was "too expensive."

In a statement issued by the board Monday night, "the board asked for additional time to prepare a counter proposal with the assistance of the newly formed Neshaminy Citizens Contract Advisory Committee."

Following the meeting, NFT President Louise Boyd posted the following on the NFT's Facebook page at about 8 p.m.:

"The meeting is over. In fact it never started. The Board was not prepared to offer any proposal. They did advise us now that we moved on the healthcare contribution, they are now raising yet another issue on which they flatly refuse to move - RETROACTIVITY. The Board stated that there was no reason to meet on Thursday because they must first meet with their double secret advisory committee."

The NFT's six-year contract proposal included for the first time health care contributions at a fixed rate, which was calculated to about 8 percent of the teachers' current health plan.

The contact proposal also included retroactive pay for the past three years, which Webb said would cost the district about $11 million.

In the board's statement, the NFT and board "mutually agreed" to cancel the negotiation sesson scheduled for Thursday, June 16 and reschedule for either July 18 or July 19, depending on the availability of the board's council.
