Neshaminy Board: No More 'Side Letters'

The Neshaminy School Policies Committee wants to make contract negotiations more transparent by bringing all side agreements between the union and superintendent to the board as well.

Neshaminy School Board Policies Committee on Wednesday proposed that so called “side letter” between the teachers’ union and the administration be also approved by the board, phillyburbs.com reports.

These side letters are essentially side agreements between the union and the superintendent that work their way into contracts over the years, and there have a couple hundred of them.

Most of these supplementary agreements are being negotiated during these years-long contract talks, but going forward, the committee proposes, that all side letter be reviewed by the board or be rendered null and void, phillyburbs reports.
