Many NHS Activities Will Go On As Scheduled Despite Strike

Some Neshaminy High School activities and athletics will go on despite the teachers' strike.

When , Neshaminy High School administrators worked together to figure out logistics to help student co-curricular and athletic activities to continue.

All activities were cancelled Monday, , to allow the administrators time to figure out what activities could continue without the support of teachers.

High school athletics will all continue as scheduled, with the exception of the cheerleading team. The cheerleading team's practices and game appearances are still pending.

“We are going to continue to run our activities to the best of our ability with the coaches we have available, supplemented by administrators where needed,” NHS Athletic Director Tom Magdelinskas said to PhillyBurbs.

“We have every sport covered.”

According to the school district's website, the district will still be providing transportation for athletes throughout the strike.

In addition, the high school's musical, Laughingstock, jazz band and jazz ensemble will all have rehearsals. However, other musical group's meetings and rehearsals have been cancelled for the duration of the strike unless students involved in those groups can organize rehearsals.

Drama nights have also been postponed throughout the teachers' strike.

During the strike, high school seniors who have not completed their Graduation Project will be expected to report to NHS for part of one day to complete the project. Click here to view the schedule of students who have appointments scheduled for their graduation projects.
