Illegal Dumping of Wild Animals

Dumping of wildlife into our parks and other wooded areas throughout our township is illegal.

The ACAB have had received several reports of the dumping of wildlife into our parks and other wooded areas throughout our township.

As reported by the Pennsylvania Game Commission [PGC], crimes against wildlife are committed each year throughout our state.

“No county, in fact, no township is excluded and these crimes occur in not only rural, but suburban and even urban environments with increasing frequency.”  Dumping, removing and relocating wildlife to another area is illegal.  It is a state law that all Lower Southampton Township residents must abide by.

When capturing a wild animal such as a ground hog, possum, skunk or squirrel, you are taking it into your possession – removing it from its natural habitat. It is illegal to take or possess wildlife from the wild.  Under state law, the penalty for capturing is a fine of up to $1,500 per animal and the penalty for abandonment (dumping) is a fine of up to $750 and/or 90 days in jail.

Only licensed wildlife exterminators are allowed to remove wildlife.  For a list of licensed exterminators, please visit our website at www.lsacab.org.
