FBA Honors Parents of Local Military Hero

The Feasterville Business Association honored the parents of a local military hero with a special military flag presentation ceremony.

Prior to the start of , the Feasterville Business Association honored the parents of a local military hero who is currently serving in Afghanistan with a special military flag presentation ceremony.

Feasterville Business Association President Dennis Markowitz honored Sharon and John Ritterson, of Oakford, for their son Corey Ritterson's heroism and service to his country. Corey, a U.S. Army private, is currently serving as a paralegal specialist in the 82nd Airborne Division, 17th Calvary Regiment Combat Aviation Brigade on a 12-month deployment in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

He was deployed to Afghanistan September 24, 2011

"The FBA encourages the betterment of our community and we like to represent out citizens that live here, making it better and we always give the individual, whether it be man or woman, a flag that goes on active duty," Markowitz said.

Sharon, John and their daughter Tory placed the flag adorning his name on the permanent military Wall of Honor in the .

"A lot of us have possessions, but what you two have offered is your most precious possession of all," Markowitz said to the Rittersons.

Markowitz also presented the Rittersons with an American flag from Harrisburg and a letter of appreciation from State Representative Frank Farry.

Corey is a 2006 graduate of Neshaminy High School and he also attended Poquessing Middle School and Tawanka Elementary School. He participated in the Lower Southampton Athletic Association basketball program and played football for Poquessing Middle School and Neshaminy High School. Corey also earned a black belt in Shotokan Karate in the Lower Southampton Township program.

"We are all very proud him," Markowitz said.
