The complainant reported that he discovered the right rear window smashed of a van that was having work done at DA Auto, which was parked in the fenced yard and backed up to the business's open Dumpster. He said he noticed the broken window August 9 and thought it was broken by accident. Another complainant took possession of the van August 17. He reported that copper fittings and copper piping were removed from the van, which he said could cost more than $5,000 to replace. The amount of copper that was taken suggests that the theft could have been taken place over the course of several nights and the location of the vehicle made the window damage not easily noticed. It appears that the unknown actor smashed the window, then opened the door from the inside and removed the fittings and shoulder-lengths of pipe.
