Popular Haunted Attraction Burns to Ground

A fire destroys Feasterville's Valley of Fear Wednesday afternoon.

It took only minutes for flames to destroy a wooden structure that housed two haunted attractions at the Valley of Fear in the Feasterville section of Lower Southampton Wednesday afternoon.

Robert Walter, public information officer with the , reported one firefighter was taken to the hospital for a burn to their hand. A second was transported by ambulance for a respiratory issue.

Several responders were treated at the scene for heat related issues. Air temperatures at the scene were estimated to be over 100 degrees, an official told Patch.

More than 75 firefighters from close to 10 fire companies in Bucks and Montgomery counties responded to the blaze at the Valley of Fear haunted attraction at on Bristol Road at 1 p.m. Several water tankers and specialized field apparatus were called due to the limited hydrant access in that portion of the township.

Within 45 minutes, the two popular haunted attractions—Zombie Research and Control Center and Captain Willie’s Shipwreck—were an unrecognizable pile of charred wood.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but said he believes it was accidentally started by a lamp that dropped as employees worked in the structure.

The Northampton man, who also owns the Richboro Swim Club, arrived to to the scene as a large column of black smoke emanated from the scene.

Yaegel said the undamaged hayride and haunted woods will be open come fall. He added that he hoped to have new haunted houses in place for fall.

“We’ll still be here and having fun,” he said as nearby firefighters hosed down the remains of the pirate themed structure.
