Lawn Care Worker Cited for Trespassing

A woman allegedly fired by a lawn care company for sleeping on the job refused to leave the work site at Sunset Memorial Park, police say.

A 33-year-old Feasterville woman has been cited for trespassing after refusing to leave the Sunset Memorial Park cemetery after a lawn care company fired her three hours after hiring her, according to a release from Officer Sean Dougherty.

When employees of the lawn care company called police Wednesday morning, they told the officer that a woman had shown up at the cemetery, started acting violent and ran when the Lower Southampton police car arrived.

The officers found the woman on County Line Road, and, according to the report, the owner of the lawn care company said she had been hired a couple days ago to trim the grass around grave markers. The employees said they saw her cut the grass for a few minutes, then sleep on the ground. It took Kraus three hours to complete 20 minutes of work, they told police.

She was fired and given $27 to compensate her three hours on the job, at $9 an hour, police said. The lawn care workers told police that she returned to the site Wednesday morning saying that she was still owed $10 and threw a piece of wood at them.

Officers told her she could file a civil suit against the company, but would have to leave the property. She agreed and began walking away. After patrolling the property, officers spotted her again along a tree line on the Sunset Memorial Park property. She ran behind some nearby houses, but the police found her sitting under a tree in the neighborhood.

Officers put her in the patrol car, took her home and told her she would receive a citation in the mail, according to the report.
