LSFD Junior Member Competes in Hershey

junior member Ryan Brookes traveled to Hershey, PA to participate in the Pennsylvania State Skills USA Competition for Fire Fighting April 18 - 20.

According to Lower Southampton Fire Department Deputy Chief Stephen Brookes, Ryan had to take a written test, compete for fastest time putting on full fire gear; identify types of fire extinguishers; tie and inspect ropes and knots; hose rolls and inspection; ladder Inspection and raise; ladder climb with leg lock;properly perform positive pressure ventilation; properly set up scene lighting; properly perform hydrant operations; and properly operate generators.

Brookes placed third in this competition and brought home a bronze medal for his accomplishment.

"We are very proud of Ryan and his accomplishment," Stephen Brookes said.
