Feasterville Mom Calls for Action to Help Family in Crisis
Food and clothing donations for a local family in dire need can be dropped off at Salon Reaction in Feasterville beginning Friday. Sept. 20 through the end of the year.
When Jenn Arnold decided to form the Buxmont PA Mom's Club, the plan was to create a resource for local stay at home moms in the Bucks and Montgomery County area to meet, network, give advice, set up fun group outings and promote local businesses.
One month after establishing a website and vibrant Facebook page, the Lower Southampton mom of two boys is using her growing network for a more serious purpose, to help sponsor a family in dire need of help.
"They have been dealing with the problem privately for quite some time," said Arnold. "I am friends with the mother, and she finally spoke up and told me what was going on. It is heart-wrenching, I cried hysterically the other night."
The family wishes to stay anonymous out of embarrassment, but Arnold said that an illness has disabled the mother and she can no longer work, leaving only the husband to help make ends meet. The family of seven has been told by PECO that their electricity will be shut off on Tuesday, according to Arnold.
As they struggle to make ends meet, Arnold is asking the community to donate clothing for the children, canned food and non-perishables for a Thanksgiving dinner and toys and gifts for Christmas.
The sizes requested are the following:
- Boys: Size 10 clothes and size 3 shoes
- Girls: Size 5 clothes and size 11 shoes
- Baby boy: 12-18 month clothing and diapers
Depending on the reaction, Arnold will add more drop off locations around the area.
