Seniors Helping Seniors® of Bucks County knows what it is like to battle the daily challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.  The company provides caregiver services to clients who struggle everyday with the disease, while trying to maintain their independent lifestyle.  As such, Seniors Helping Senior of Bucks County is a big supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association and for the fifth year will be fielding a team for the 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The walk, in its 20th year, will take place on November 17, at Citizen’s Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way, Philadelphia, Pa. Check in time is 9:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 11:00 a.m. Walkers can join a team or walk on their own. To take part in this year’s walk, register at http://act.alz.org/site/TR?fr_id=1586&pg=entry.

The event is held in 600 communities nationwide, and while there is no registration fee, each participant is expected to raise funds to help advance the organization’s mission of increasing awareness about the disease and finding a cure.

“I am passionate about doing everything I can to help eliminate this devastating disease,” said Barbara Marte, owner of Seniors Helping Seniors® of Bucks County and the captain of the Seniors Helping Seniors® team. “While I have not personally experienced the pain of having a family member with Alzheimer’s, my work has brought me into contact with many who either have the disease themselves or have a spouse, family member or dear friend who does.”

The goal for the Seniors Helping Seniors® of Bucks County team is to raise $5,000. To help them meet their goal, donations can be made online at: http://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk/PADelawareValley?pg=team&fr_id=1586&team_id=34931 or by sending a check (payable to Alzheimer’s Association) to Seniors Helping Seniors® of Bucks County, Warminster Corporate Center, 65 West Street Road, Suite B101, Warminster, PA 18974.

About Seniors Helping Seniors®:

Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services is a national caregiver and companionship organization and the only one that matches seniors who need in-home services with seniors who want to provide them. Seniors Helping Seniors® of Bucks County is one of more than 100 offices operating throughout the United States. The mission is to provide seniors with the ability to choose an independent lifestyle in their own homes, for as long as possible, with the dignity and respect they deserve, by finding dedicated, caring seniors to help each other.

If family members do not live close by or do not have the ability to provide the care that their loved ones require,  Seniors Helping Seniors® services provide the assistance that will give distant family members assurance that their loved ones are receiving the support they need.

Seniors Helping Seniors® supports seniors and their family caregivers by matching them with people who will understand them the most - other seniors. Seniors Helping Seniors® Providers have the heart of a volunteer and understand the ups and downs of life. From that understanding, what begins as a Provider and Receiver relationship becomes a Friendship. Seniors Helping Seniors® Providers believe true joy lies within helping others.

Seniors Helping Seniors® services include companionship, light housekeeping, cooking, shopping, transportation, yard work, mobility assistance, home maintenance, overnight stays and more. Senior Providers are there because they really want to be and services are performed with the utmost of love, care and compassion.  For more information about Seniors Helping Seniors® of Bucks County, contact Barbara Marte at 215-675-6402 or visit the website at:  http://www.seniorshelpingseniors.com/PABucks/ or follow them on Facebook at Seniors Helping Seniors of Bucks County.
