Sentencing Hearing Continues for Kidnapping Hoax Mom

Bonnie Sweeten's sentencing hearing for fraud charges will continue today; she has already served one year for a kidnapping hoax perpetrated in Southampton back in 2009.

"Hoax Mom" Bonnie Sweeten's sentencing hearing resumes today.

6ABC is reporting that Sweeten may speak to the judge today before he pronounces her sentence to make one last plea for leniency.

A federal judge ruled that  from business associates and family members before reporting a fake carjacking and fleeing to Disney World with her daughter.

Sweeten, 40, formerly of Feasterville, has spent one year in prison on the fake kidnapping claim. She returns to court today to receive a sentencing on the additional fraud charges.

 last year. In exchange for her guilty pleas, prosecutors are seeking a penalty of 10 years in prison.
