: Several weeks ago, Truman High School student Edward Brodecki died in an auto accident just blocks from the high school, which is causing SADD to change this year's pre-prom program. Yearly, the seniors are involved in a simulated auto crash complete with emergency response teams, ambulances, helicopter medi-vac, and the jaws of life—even the grim reaper dressed in black with the trademark sickle makes an appearance. But given the circumstances, the group's director thinks it is too soon to subject the students to the sight of a serious accident. : The investigation of Tyrone Newman's death at Bucks Landing Apartments last year has come to a close with Monday's sentencing of Laurie "Turtle" Wint and John Briggs. Wint, 33, pleaded guilty to third degree murder and will serve 12 and a half to 25 years, and John Briggs pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit voluntary manslaugher, earning a seven to 14 year trip to state prison. : Among the crimes documented in this week's Upper Southampton police blotter was an attempted burglary. A resident arrived home to a house on the 600 block of Belmont Road and saw two people wearing dark hoodies running from the living room to the back door.
