November 11: Veterans Day

Here are your five things for 11/11/2011

1. According to Weather.com, today will be sunny with a high of 49 degrees. There is a zero percent chance of rain and winds will be at about 19 mph. Overnight, it will be clear with a low of 35 degrees, a zero percent chance of rain and winds at about 12 mph.

2. Today is Veterans Day -- a day to honor and celebrate those who have served and are still serving in the military. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day in November 1919 with these words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations."

3. All Neshaminy School District schools are closed today for the Veterans Day holiday.

4. All . Driver and vehicle online services are available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and include driver’s license and photo ID renewals; vehicle registration renewal; driver-history services; changes of address; driver license and vehicle registration restoration letters; and exam scheduling.  There are no additional fees for using online services.

5. The will be traveling to play the Unionville Indians tonight at 7 p.m. for the first round of PIAA District 1 playoffs. Here are driving directions to the game.
