Local Beer Store Settles in Wrongful Death Lawsuit

A local beer store settled with the family of a University of Pennsylvania student who fell to his death at a fraternity party in 2011.

The parents of a 20-year-old college student from Yardley who fell to his death at a fraternity party have settled with Suds Beer Store in Trevose for $375,000.

They also settled with the University of Pennsylvania for an undisclosed amount and the Phi Kappa Sigma house for $3 million, according to Action News.

The lawsuit stated that Matthew Crozier feel 30 feet from a stairway at the frat house after a New Year's Eve party in 2011.

In addition, the lawsuit alleges that Crozier was allowed to buy beer at thebeer store on the 2400 block of Old Lincoln Highway and underage drink at the party.

At the time, Crozier had been a student-athlete at John Carroll University in Ohio.

Action News reported that family lawyers stated that a Penn spokeswoman said the university could not comment on the confidential settlement.

When do people become accountable for their own choices and actions? Why is everyone else always blamed? I feel like the parents made a bonanza off of their son's death and that is wrong. If fingers need to be pointed maybe they should be pointed in the parents' direction for not teaching their son to drink underage. I hope they donate the money to a worthy charity...

I totally agree with Marie Viterelli's comment. I would like to add that for the parents this is blood money and they will not find happiness with it.
