Five Things for August 24

Check out these five things for today.

1. Though it will feel a bit cool this morning, it will be a nice warm day. Weather.com reports that it will be partly cloudy with a high of 84 degrees. There is only a 10 percent chance of precipitation and humidity will be at 53 percent. Overnight, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 69 degrees with only a 10 percent chance of precipitation.

2. Today is Vesuvius Day, which marks the date in 79 A.D. that Mount Vesuvius exploded and destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae and killed about 3,500 people -- it is one of the largest volcanic explosions in recorded history.

3. Enjoy the rain-free day at the weekly  at  today from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. The Lower Southampton Board of Supervisors approved the Friends of Playwicki Farm to seek vineyards and wine vendors to sell bottles of wine at the market.
