December 22: The Shortest Day of the Year

Here are your five things for December 22, 2011.

2. Today is National Date Nut Bread Day.

3. The  Barnes & Noble will not be hosting a . The event will kick back off January 3, 2012.

4. You can head to the  today though to get your holiday gifts wrapped! The mall's , located in the Barnes & Noble/Sears Court, will be available from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. today.

5. Today is the Winter Solstice and the official start of the winter season. According to Almanac.com, the Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, when the Sun reaches its most southern point in the sky at local noon. After today, the days will start getting longer.
