Consumer Reports Poll: What Americans Dread During the Holidays

Consumer Reports surveyed people about what they dread most during the holidays.

Consumer Reports polled Americans on what they dread most about the holiday season. Some of the results were expected, but another result was rather surprising.

According to the survey, 35 million Americans actually despise having to be nice during the holidays. But the survey overwhelming showed that people dread the crowds and long lines during the holidays.

In addition, 90 percent noted there's at least one thing that they stress over during the year-end festivities. Along with the top complaint of holiday crowds, gaining weight and getting into debt tied for second-place in top holiday woes among survey respondents.

"For all the chatter about nostalgia, family fun and gift giving this time of year, many people don't like too much of a good thing," said Tod Marks, senior editor at Consumer Reports.
