Lower Southampton Still in State of Emergency

Due to Hurricane Sandy and its damage, Lower Southampton Township is still in a state of emergency.

Hurricane Sandy's path left trees down, power lines down and most of Lower Southampton's residents without power.

Due to the damage, the township is still in a state of emergency. Residents that had damage done to their property are being urged to contact the fire marshal's office to report it if they haven't already. Call 215-357-7300 ext. 349.

PECO is estimating that it will take seven day to make repairs necessary to restore power to the township.

Lower Southampton's public works has been working on cleaning up the township, but there are still downed wires. Township officials are asking residents not to touch them or go near them as they could be energized.

While the Feasterville Fire Company's emergency shelter has closed, residents that still do not have power can utilize a shelter that has been set up at Pennsbury High School East in Fairless Hills.

According to the township website, sewer bills can be paid without a late penalty by Monday, Nov. 5.

Trash pick up was pushed from Wednesday to Thursday and yard waste pick up was pushed from Thursday to Friday.
