Local Cupcake Contest Draws in Area Bakeries

Feasterville's Select Jewelers is helping promote small businesses with a cupcake contest this weekend.

Five local bakeries will be perfecting their cupcake recipes and decorations to .

Warminster's , Northampton's , Langhorne's Van Earl’s Cakes, Philadelphia's Schenk’s Family Bakery, and the  will all bring their sweet treats to Select Jewelers where a panel of judges, including Lower Southampton Patch editor Nicole Jenet, will be judging not only the taste, but also the design and decoration of the cupcakes.

“In this tough economy small businesses like us have to find creative ways to keep our customers and employees positive,” Select Jewelers owner Joe Mortimer said of the inspiration to hold a cupcake contest.

In addition to the cupcake contest, Select Jewelers, which is located at 262 E. Street Road in Feasterville's Stockade Plaza, will be holding a jewelry trunk show, a fashion show and an auction.

Here is the complete schedule of events:

  • The store opens at 10 a.m.
  • The jewelry fashion show begins at noon
  • Snack on cupcakes from the participating bakeries from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Cupcake judging will be at 2:30 p.m.
  • The jewelry auction will begin at 3 p.m.
  • The cupcake contest winners will be announced at 4:30 p.m.
