The 2011-2012 Playwickian editors and staff writers received the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s Gold Medal Certificate of Excellence for High School Journalism.

“It is obvious how much hard work and time are devoted to the multiple elements of The Playwickian. The wonderful diversity in topics covered offers something for every reader. Your interviewing, writing, research and coverage are strong points,” CSPA judges stated. 

The students’ received an additional praise from the judges, “The work the students did while without an advisor was outstanding; it's obvious that because of their advisor, they have a strong journalism foundation of skills as evidenced in the strike coverage.”

The CSPA has critiqued The Playwickian for the past 36 years and has received a Gold Medal for an outstanding 25 years.
