Neshaminy Choir Wins First Place in B101 Competition
The Neshaminy High School Select Choir won the grand prize for its rendition of "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas."
Neshaminy's Select Choir won First Place in B101’s Christmas Choir Competition, the radio station announced this morning. The choir won a piano from Cunningham Piano Company, will get to perform live with Peter Nero & the Philly Pops at the Holiday Pops and gets their song played on B101 through the holidays.
Neshaminy won for its version of "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." Upper Merion High School got second place, winning $2,000, for its rendition of "Slow Dancing in the Snow. Council Rock North's Master Singers earned third place and won $1,000.

For the past four years, Philadelphia-based B101 has sponsored the Christmas Choir Competition, which involves an initial audition and then a showcase of local choirs. The audio rendition of the song is played on the radio and listeners are asked to vote online for their favorite.
