A Kmart employee was working at the service desk when she observed a male in his 40s pushing a shopping cart with a blanket toward the front doors. She asked the male if he had a receipt for the merchandise she could see in his cart. The man then ran with the cart down one of the store aisles. He then ran from the store carrying a yellow school bag and a "Go Green" bag full of unknown merchandise. The employee followed the subject as he entered a white Ford Taurus. He ran to his car and drove erraticly to prevent the complainant from seeing the car's registration. When the employee checked the cart the subject left behind, she found three sets of TVs valued at $700. It is unknown what merchandise was in the subject's bags.

While on patrol at about 1:38 a.m., an officer observed a red Ford Fusion exit the parking lot of the 7-Eleven. The driver drove the vehicle over the curb instead of using one of two driveways to exit the parking lot onto Brownsville Road. The officer followed the vehicle and observed it cross the double yellow lines several times. The officer made contact with the driver, who was identified by her driver's license, who said she was lost and looking for the casino. The officer reported smelling alcohol coming from the vehicle and that her speech was slurred and eyes were glassy. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed, and she registered .20 percent on a breath test. She consented to a blood draw. Charges for DUI will be filed pending lab results.
