The Lower Southampton Board of Supervisors had to fill a vacancy after John McMenamin resigned.
After former Chairman John McMenamin resigned to take on the township manager position full time, the Lower Southampton Board of Supervisors had to fill a vacancy.
They did so last night by appointing Republican Patrick Irving, Phillyburbs reported.
Though the board advertised that applications were being accepted to fill the board's vacancy, Irving was the only resident that interviewed for the position. , However, according to Phillyburbs, Supervisor Ed Shannon said he’s sure Irving “will do a hell of a job, for all of us.”
During the annual reorganization meeting Monday night, the board also voted supervisor Julia Newman as new chairman and supervisor Keith Wesley was voted vice chairman, Phillyburbs reported.
After former township manager Ted Taylor was terminated, McMenamin volunteered to temporarily serve as the township manager part time. However, McMenamin decided to take on the position full time, which required him to resign from the Board of Supervisors.
