Lane Restrictions Scheduled on Rt 1, Rt 213 for Bridge Beam Removal
There will be lane restrictions in Middletown Township while PennDOT works on a bridge beam removal early this week.
As part of the $19.3 million project to reconstruct the Rt. 1 Bridge over Rt. 213 and the ramps at the Rt. 1/Rt. 213 Interchange in Middletown Township lane restrictions are scheduled on Rt. 1 and Rt. 213 for bridge beam removal.
From 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, southbound Rt. 1 motorists will see lane closures between Bellevue Avenue and I-95.
From 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, Rt. 213 will have traffic pattern shifts between North Flowers Mill Road and South Flowers Mill Road.
According to a PennDOT press release, the contractor is removing beams as part of the project to replace Rt. 1’s three-span, pre-stressed box beam bridge with a new single-span, pre-stressed concrete beam structure.
Crews are also rebuilding and realigning the Rt. 1 ramps to Rt. 213; resurfacing the roadway approaches and ramps; installing glare screens on the median barrier; erecting overhead sign structures; installing new signs, pavement markers and guide rail; and upgrading drainage systems.
The speed limit on Rt. 1 is reduced from 55 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour in the construction zone.
