At about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, a Lower Southampton Police officer on patrol received a report that a red vehicle hit multiple vehicles and drove away. The actor was reportedly driving eastbound on Street Road.
The officer drove out to Street Road by 7-Eleven and could see smoke coming from a red vehicle a few hundred yards down in front of him.
The officer pulled up next to the vehicle, which was in the passing lane, at Street and Sterner Mill roads. Its tag was the same as reported in the hit and run and the car was clearly just involved in an accident with radiator fluid smoking as it smoked.
When the officer requested the driver to exit the vehicle, the driver started to get out of the car while it was still in drive. He was ordered to put the car in park, which he did and then got out of the car.
The driver, the officer reported, was clearly not under control. He was swaying and had issues with balance. At first he told the officer he was diabetic, but when the officer said he would verify that, the driver admitted that he was not diabetic.
The officer could smell alcohol on the driver, and then he was placed in the police van for safety as well as for the DUI investigation and being a suspect in leaving the scene of an accident. Field sobriety tests were not conducted due to the obvious intoxication of the driver and his inability to stand safely.
He registered .27 percent on a breath test.
The driver consented to a blood draw. DUI charges will be filed as soon as the blood results are rececived from the crime lab.
